Normally at this time of the year I travel abroad for about 7 weeks. I always debate with myself the amount of photographic gear I should take with me. This time I ended having with me the iPad Pro and my camera with two lenses.
As you might have noticed I love doing composites and for doing so in the iPad, I needed something more robust. I was reaching darkness…I was diving into something I’d never done before as I am used with Photoshop and with my computer for editing. I started learning Affinity Photo for iPad.
I’ve struggled a bit as everyone does when starting something new. I’m starting to dominate it after watching several videos. I can do a proper selection now! ;-). My burning and dodging strategies for mobile will be via blend modes, overlay grey layers + brush. It is a powerful app I have to say! We can do a lot with it! It is almost as if working in PS and the UI is clever. I miss not being able to colour correct elements in composites as I normally do. I might still find a way in the app, if there is a way. And who knows one day I’ll be able to clip layers…it would be great! In comparison to PS mobile, it is much more robust for my understanding.
This is what I last created using Affinity. Oh by the way I’m getting addicted to ICM (Intentional camera movement)! I’ll be using a lot as my backgrounds 🙂
