Yesterday I was in a mood to paint digitally using oil brushes, so I could have a feeling of them. What would be my subject? I always tend to go to something related to human nature and my stories tend to have a human subject on it. It was the end of the day and my muse was semi-awake not prone to create a story where a sketch would be essential. For the sake to make life easier for me, I went for a still life. But not an ordinary still life. I wanted the painting to be dynamic, colourful with a touch of abstract on it. I then remembered a picture I once took from a flower bouquet. How could I make it into an abstract painting?
Distorting the picture!
My way to reach such abstraction would be to apply a distort filter and choose polar to rectangular. My flowers wound’t be standing up. They would be creating a colourful waterfall! A simple technique that allows you to see the world differently! A perfect source of inspiration for creating a painting when the dark sky was starting to envelope us in the evening.

Playing with oil painting!
First of all I needed some brushes! YouTube would be my friend this time. After spending a while doing a research, watching several videos, I went for Julia Dreams Design brushes. I loved the feeling of them!
Having the photo at my side, I started painting straight onto the digital canvas. A good relaxing practice on digital oil painting. I spent a few hours playing. Having the feeling of the brushes and oil painting, now I can evolve my concepts into digital oil painting or even creating a mixing media. The world of art is infinite when you choose to!
Below is the result. Flowers that give us the pleasure of their smell and beauty. They show us the beauty of simplicity and delicacy. They teach us the art of nurturing and at the end of their cycle, they still inspire us to create more beauty!
