One of these days, I got my pencil and started drawing a sketch. I ended up with a macropage and a bacteria. Don’t ask me how my brain works. And don’t forget I am a scientist. These subjects probably were in the back of my mind. Probably I was reading about native immunity or alike. And the way I draw it is directed related to bacteria resistance, no doubt about it. This is a perfect example when art meets science. Right brain connecting to the left one! I won’t use the medical term for it 😉
After finishing the sketch, it was time to add colour to it. I was ready to continue experimenting with watercolour. This time I wasn’t totally happy with the result. Something wasn’t quite right. After a few days I found out why..a bit late but nonetheless, not a bin guest. Also the subject is not the most attractive. It was then that another thought invaded my mind. What is beautiful in art?
Art is subjective! It is not science!
When you look into art, what do you look for? What do you consider beautiful? The colour harmony, the softness of elements, the feelings it triggers on you as a story or both? Is it fair when we see something we don’t like and we say: “oh this is not art”? We have rights upon our own thoughts but I don’t think it is fair on the artist. Art is subjective! For me, what is beautiful in art is the creative process, it is how spontaneously we can create something that represent our core – how we see and feel the world as consequence of the environment we live in – consciously or not. Another example of art meeting science, though art is not science! What a wonderful world we live in, flooded with possibilities!
And now I present you the rebellion bacteria having a conversation with her ‘friend’: “Macrophage, I am evolving, becoming more resistant! You won’t engulf me!!”
Therefore my dear human mates, take care of yourselves!
