The parrot and his pirate

Along this year while I was concentrating on my 100 consecutive days of illustrations, I started to create fun ones where animals or human beings would take reversal roles. It started off with a parrot having a pirate on its shoulders. It was the beginning of a series that I named role reversals and that in a later stage would become my first ever printable calendar.

The idea started with the first word that came in my mind; parrot. After drawing the parrot, a cascade continued naturally, sun, sea, tropical vegetation…anything else? And what about the pirates….they love the sea waters…haha yes OK, but I am not giving them the pleasure to occupy their own habitat…they will stay behaved on a parrot’s shoulder!

I used Procreate for the illustration, with each element drawn in a separate layer, so I could add texture to each of them without worrying of spills.
