Brexit is a constant theme on our news and podcasts here in the UK. It is a completely disaster for a nation that once was respected and presented some value to the world. Nowadays the position of once a Great Britain is at the bottom of the G20 countries. It is sad, frustrating and infuriating! Due to political games, Conservatives were irresponsible to put on the hands of the population, a matter that involves macroeconomy. And even worse, the propaganda was completely misleading.
Now we are left behind in all the fields that a nation should be aiming to achieve, so it can grow – Science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The way the world is evolving, we need innovation. Furthermore, the UK is abolishing the restriction on quality of their products. We are being dragged towards a black hole….and ashamedly the UK Government won’t be worrying too much with our climate situation either.
I would never imagine politics in a powerful country would become like the ones of a third, forth world countries.
Having all of this in mind, and the fact that articles that are submitted to me for publication are a source of inspiration, I’ve come to do this illustration that will fit well to our next article.
Joining the pieces for my illustration
I started first with the culprits. I won’t say names! 😉 You will be able to guess them, if you are following the UK politics. The culprits, or better saying, the main subjects are cartooned. Basically, a photo from public domain where several filters are applied. Liquify, Oil paint, poster edges, surface blur, unsharp mask and smart sharpen. This was done using Photoshop. One day who knows I will be able to draw cartoons from scratch! I am trying, I’ve started!
The second stage was to use a map of Europe. I could have spent days preparing one, but unfortunately my deadline was tight. I used one from Freepick and I am very thankful as I know how much work is involved to produce one. I’ve changed its colour and I also recreated the UK map to use it magnified, so I could add some of the bad elements that makes the UK nowadays – the culprits, the smoke representing lack of control towards the climate, the damaged apples that have become the normal when we look for them in the supermarkets.
Continuing to add other elements as part of the third stage of the process, I created some coins, the symbols of science, a curve line representing economic growth, and lastly the loop underneath the ‘magnified’ Great Britain.
And finally the result of the composite, showing the sad reality that surrounds British citizens… Broken Brexit Britain.
