Ephemerality
It was about March that I decided to create a series relating to our ephemeral role in earth. A visual storytelling on ephemerality. There were three reasons that influenced this subject to come into my mind. Reasons One was what we started to live in our worlds. The new pandemic brought reflection, at least to me. It made us think what was more worthwhile in our lives. The chaotic capitalist life or a simpler one. The humanity was suddenly not in the pedestal as it used to be. By the contrary, it became under threat. A basic principle of nature that we should be more aware of. The second reason was seeing my daughter growing up so fast. That little child under my arms is becoming something from the past. Now she is a young lady creating her own wings and is eager to embrace the world. Scary and beautiful at the same time. Autumn was the final reason that indulged me to create this series. It is when we feel and see the cycle of life and how ephemerality has a pivotal role in life! Leaves fall, flowers hide in their roots, some animals start their process of hibernation. Trees get naked and life seems to go to sleep. I created this series gathering ideas correspondent to my feelings, doing sketches and taking photo shoots of each element I needed for the final composite results. In some of the works I mixed painting, drawing and photograph. Colour played a central role to set the correct mood and blur to convey the time passing by.
